APB's speakers are available for a wide range of programs, events, and non-traditional engagements, including:
In addition to the traditional types of events above, a select number of American Program Bureau's speakers are available for consulting engagements, television commercials and other unique engagements. Please contact us or call us at 800.225.4575 to check a specific speaker's availability for any type of event.
While there are different types of exclusive arrangements, the International Association of Speakers Bureaus defines exclusive as "when the speaker has signed an agreement with a program consultant to handle all speaking engagements." This means that exclusive speakers are represented by only one speakers bureau.
Exclusive representation of a speaker allows a speakers bureau to provide more efficient and effective services to both speakers and clients. APB works intimately with our exclusive speakers to manage their calendars, fee schedules, technical requirements and other information necessary to the planning of your event. We are able to easily communicate with them directly regarding topics, fees, dates and technicalities.
Of course. APB lists 1,500+ speakers on our website, but our network consists of thousands more! Our program consultants have access to speakers from across the globe, and, as a member of the International Association of Speakers Bureaus, we have the ability to secure other speakers bureaus' exclusive speakers on behalf of our clients. If you are interested in a speaker not listed on our website, please email or call us at 800.225.4575 and we will tap into our global network to contact them for you.
If you are a professional speaker and are seeking speakers bureau representation with American Program Bureau, please visit APB's speaker recruitment page for instructions on how to submit your materials for review. After our staff carefully reviews your information, someone will be in contact with you. Thank you for your interest in American Program Bureau.
Fees & Costs
Speaker fee or honorarium* can depend on a number of different factors, including: the type of organization and nature of an event (for-profit vs. not-for-profit), how far a speaker has to travel, length and number of presentations, and demand for a speaker's services. *Additional expenses such as travel and lodging are not included in the honorarium.
With our broad range of speakers, we can find a speaker to fit any budget.
No, the speakers bureau is paid by the speaker, not the client. As a leading speakers bureau (not a booking agency), we actually know our speakers personally. This means that we know each speaker's preferences and the factors that influence them to be more flexible in their fee requirements. These factors include type of organization, audience or event, the location of the event, and promotional opportunities for book sales, just to name a few. And, as we work with speakers on a daily basis, we are able to help you save on travel by tying into existing travel plans. Check out our tie-in list for opportunities in your area.
Optimally, events are planned 6-12 months in advance. However, we know this is not always possible. Our program consultants and event coordinators are experienced with working in much shorter timeframes and are adept at coordinating last minute bookings or replacement speakers in the case of an emergency cancellation.
If you are looking to secure one of our higher profile speakers or host an event on a popular date, we advise that you begin planning much earlier as many of our top speakers have dates scheduled up to several years in advance. Also, competition during popular time periods, such as Black History Month, can be intense.
Yes, with 17 offices around the globe, our program consultants in these locations offer invaluable perspectives on both global and local speakers and issues that will generate the most interest and appeal for your audience.
At APB, we are pleased to boast an extremely low cancellation rate among our speakers. When the occasional cancellation does occur, it is generally attributed to something that is out of both APB’s and the speaker’s control – such as a sudden emergency or unforeseen circumstance. Otherwise, we have a thorough process in place when planning speaking engagements that ensures accordance with our speakers’ schedules to prevent any hiccups or cancellations.
In the highly unlikely case that an emergency does arise and a speaker must cancel, we will work with you to find an appropriate replacement. Our worldwide network of speakers offers countless options in the case of an emergency, and our 24/7 staff is more than ready to handle any last minute complications.
Choosing a Speaker
Our experienced program consultants will work with you to understand your programming and event needs, give you customized recommendations, and then provide you with the tools you need to properly evaluate each option for your event. We have a number of targeted catalogs that make finding the right speaker a breeze, and we also encourage you to browse through Our Recommendations, videos, testimonials, and profiles of speakers on our website. If we don't have video or testimonials on a speaker's profile page, contact us to see if we have it offline.
Of course! We are constantly adding new videos to our website every day. If you do not see a video on a specific speaker's profile, or would like to see additional footage, call us at 800.225.4575 or contact us to see if we have it offline.
