The Boondock Saints' fans all know the story:
Church sermon, St. Patrick's Day, bar fight, early morning ambush, flying toilets, dead mobsters and a calling from God to "make life a hell for all sinners."
What most people don't know is the all-too-real tale of Boondock Saints creator/writer/director Troy Duffy's fantastic journey to get this movie made.

In the spring of 1997, Troy Duffy was living the American dream - big time.
Duffy and his friend Chris Brinker, then working in development at New Line Cinema, were shopping Troy’s first script, The Boondock Saints. The screenplay was nothing short of an original thrill ride, unflinching in ratcheting up the battle of good vs. evil. And in no time, it captured the attention of studio executives all over Hollywood.
In the process, Troy received an unprecedented offer: a $10 million production budget, the green light to direct his first feature film and full partnership in the bar that he happened to be tending for a living at that time.
...continued after the break.

Now, with his face and personal rags-to-riches story plastered across the front pages of everything from Daily Variety to USA Today, Paramount Pictures signed Troy to a two-picture deal, giving Duffy and Brinker offices on their prestigious lot. Troy Duffy was suddenly one of the most talked about and sought after new talents in a company town driven by brass balls and illusion.
Less than a year later, that reality would set in as Troy found himself in a creative showdown that left him and Chris in a struggle to get their movie made at less than half of its original budget and true believers, both within and outside of the industry, became perfectly distinct from the opportunistic hangers on.
“For as much pure hell as we’ve been through, we literally could not have come this far without the unstoppable commitment of the fans that discovered us.”
-Troy Duffy
And so, the journey of incredible highs and terrible lows continued its course. During which, the filmmakers slept on any floor that would have them and in the backseat of their cars, scratching together enough money to keep their lawyers busy untangling a web of power grabs and creative accounting. Meanwhile, The Boondock Saints – a film that was nearly killed off and buried in the wake of Hollywood politics and the nation’s tragedy at Columbine – was becoming an international phenomenon, exciting and inspiring audiences worldwide as a visual anthem for anyone committed to Truth (Veritas), Justice (Aequitas), loyalty and going the distance.
The Boondock Saints Come Home
With the decade-long awaited sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day now making its theatrical debut, APB is very proud to present a rare, 360 degree view of this remarkable odyssey from creator, writer & director, Troy Duffy, producer Chris Brinker, actor David Della Rocco (Rocco AKA The Funny Man) and a surprise appearance by one of the other cast members in an eye-opening and memorable evening with The Boondock Saints.
"The sequel is like a homecoming of sorts, a testament to the people at the studios who knew us ‘back when’ and stepped up to the plate years later when it mattered most…and to all of the original cast and filmmaking crew, a number of whom turned down more lucrative opportunities to return to where it all began.”
-Chris Brinker
