Chris Hughes Ruminates on Twitter, MySpace, and the Future of Facebook
On June 3, 2009, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes was featured in a TechCrunch article that outlined his perceptions of rival social media sites, MySpace and Twitter, as well as his part in the success of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.
Hughes admits that, after reluctantly subscribing to the service, “Twitter is great.” However, the conversation took a different tone when discussing MySpace as Hughes said the service allows advertisers to “be in people’s way.”
Remaining modest about his role in Obama’s presidential campaign, Hughes said that all he helped to do was run a more efficient campaign using existing technology, with a special focus on raising money and forming emotional relationships with voters.
