17th US Surgeon General & Actress Team Up to Improve Nation's Heart Health

Canyon Ranch Institute President and 17th US Surgeon General Richard Carmona teamed up with award-winning actress and heart health advocate Andie MacDowell to support a new program designed to create more productive conversations between patients and healthcare professionals regarding cardiovascular health.
Entitled Time to Talk CARDIO, the program is being piloted by a select number of physicians and is evaluated using in-clinic testing. Though results are only preliminary, they indicate a promising increase in overall communication and patient satisfaction.
MacDowell, a long time heart health activist, shares her motivation for partnering with Carmona stating, "After losing my mother to a heart attack, I realized how important it is to take an active role in your health. Since cardiovascular disease affects so many lives, it is crucial that people communicate effectively with their health care professional."
