Augusten Burroughs Plans TV Shows With CBS, NBC, & Showtime

Perennial best-selling author and APB exclusive speaker, Augusten Burroughs will soon bring his literary works to television—in a big way. Working with NBC, Showtime, and CBS, Burroughs is set to adapt several of his works for television broadcasts.

Sellevision, a relentless spoof of cable's home-shopping mania, is being adapted to television for NBC. While Dry, another bestseller, based on his experiences as an ad man fighting alcoholism, is being adapted for Showtime.

Burroughs is working with CBS to develop The Nature of Fire, about a group of male firefighters whose world is rocked when a female arson investigator joins their team.

Not new to scripted entertainment, Burroughs’ runaway bestseller Running with Scissors was made into a feature film. Burroughs has also just released a new book, You Better Not Cry: Stories for Christmas. His keynote speeches, like his books, make you laugh and make you cry, and then make you think.
