UPDATE (3/18/11, 9:12am): Four New York Times journalists, including Anthony Shadid, who have been missing in Libya since Tuesday, were captured by forces loyal to Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi and will be released Friday (today), according to his son, Seif Islam el-Qaddafi.
After the Times lost contact with the journalists on Tuesday, the Libyan government pledged that, if they had been detained by government forces, they would be released unharmed.

(3/16/11, 4:52pm): According to The New York Times, four journalists, including two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Anthony Shadid, were last in contact with their editors Tuesday morning from the town of Ajdabiya. Stephen Farrell, a reporter and videographer, and two photographers, Tyler Hicks and Lynsey Addario, are also missing.
In a statement, Bill Keller, the executive editor of The New York Times said, "We have talked with officials of the Libyan government in Tripoli, and they tell us they are attempting to ascertain the whereabouts of our journalists." He also said the Libyan government had assured the paper that if the journalists have been captured, they would be released promptly and unharmed.
