New to APB: Thad Roberts, Inspiration for 'Sex on the Moon'

We are proud to introduce one of our newest speakers, Thad Roberts, a physicist and former NASA employee who was the inspiration for the New York Times bestseller Sex on the Moon: The Amazing Story Behind the Most Audacious Heist in History, which is being made into a feature film.

WATCH: Thad Roberts on CBS Sunday Morning

As a former astrophysicist and flight lead at NASA, Roberts was well on his way to becoming an astronaut when love rewrote his destiny. Wanting to literally give his girlfriend the moon, he masterminded the now-infamous moon rock caper and landed himself in the middle of a government sting and was sentenced to six years in prison. But his story doesn't end there - while in prison, Thad continued to wrestle with the mysteries of modern physics, and emerged with a 700-page manuscript describing a new geometric structure for space-time. His engaging speeches motivate and thrill audiences as he helps them understand that we are all capable of rebounding from failure.
