Women's History Month - Profiles in Courage

Recognizing Prominent Women In History

Women's History Month was established in 1987 with the express purpose to raise the public consciousness and knowledge of prominent and influential female leaders whose actions changed the course of history. For generations the contributions of women were overlooked in history books and educational curricula, yet female achievements were responsible for shaping science, entertainment, politics, sports, art and innumerable other fields.

APB is proud to work with many of today's most influential women, such as human rights activist and Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi, environmentalist and Norway's first female Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, and Kelly Corrigan, an “everyday woman” who beat cancer, shared her story in a best-selling novel and inspired millions worldwide.

While Women's History Month serves as a time for us to look back and recognize the many achievements of women throughout history, it also charges us with an important task: continually striving towards gender equality and towards creating a more just future for all.
