Arthur Nathan

Arthur (Arte) Nathan served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Steve Wynn's gaming companies from 1983–2006, and opened all of his casinos in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Mississippi, and China. Nathan retired from the gaming industry in 2006 and moved to Southern California where he worked with the Irvine Company and opened The Resort at Pelican Hill, an ultra luxury resort in Newport Beach. He is currently President of Strategic Development Worldwide, a consulting firm in San Diego, California, that helps organizations become high-output organizations.

Throughout his career, Nathan has been a key player in the strategic growth and impeccable standard of excellence in all of Steve Wynn's hotels. He's a recognized innovator in high volume recruitment and hiring, labor relations, employee relations, training and development, technology related to applicant tracking, and the use of business-intelligence applications for employee relationship management. His expertise with startup companies and opening hotels has been the subject of many articles in professional and academic publications.

Nathan chaired the Nevada Governor's Workforce Investment Board, served on the Board of the Society of Human Resources (and its affiliates, the Human Resource Certification Institute and the SHRM Foundation), and is past chair of the Southern Nevada Culinary & Bartenders Training Trust. He currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the UNLV School of Hotel Administration, The College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona and the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

Nathan graduated from Cornell University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and labor relations. He has been the recipient of many awards for his work in human resources, community affairs, and education. He is a frequent guest lecturer at colleges and universities, and has addressed numerous professional associations and conferences on the subject of human resource management.
