Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick has been an NFL coach since 1975 and is the only head coach in league history to win three Super Bowl championships in a four-year span. Since 2001 he has been head coach of the New England Patriots, and in 2004 moved ahead of Vince Lombardi to claim the best postseason record in NFL history.

With over 35 years' experience as an NFL coach, Belichick has spent more seasons in the league than any other NFL head coach. He launched his career in 1975 as a special assistant with the Baltimore Colts, then became an assistant special teams coach with Detroit (1976-77) and Denver (1978). In 1979, he joined the New York Giants and contributed to Super Bowl championships with the team in 1986 and 1990 as the team's defensive coordinator. Following Super Bowl XXV, Belichick was named head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 1991, becoming the youngest head coach in the NFL at age 37.

Throughout his career, Coach Belichick has been active in a wide array of charitable endeavors in New England, New York, Cleveland, and beyond. In the spring of 2009, Belichick and then-Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis joined Jon Bon Jovi on stage to help support Hannah and Friends, a foundation created by Weis to benefit individuals with special needs. In 2010 Belichick lent his support to the charity Friends of Jaclyn, an organization that helps children with cancerous brain tumors be "adopted" by sports teams. He has spoken to coaching audiences at Rutgers, Alabama Coaching Clinic, and the Frank McGuire Foundation.

Belichick has been honored with numerous awards in recognition of his success with the Patriots. He earned NFL Coach of the Year honors by the Associated Press twice (2003, 2007), and in 2003 was named one of TIME's "100 most powerful and influential people in the world."
