Chiqui Cartagena

Chiqui Cartagena is a Hispanic media and marketing pioneer with 25 years of experience developing, launching, and leading some of America's most successful Spanish-language consumer magazines, including People en Español, and marketing programs like Club Música Latina for Columbia House. Cartagena also has over ten years of experience as a journalist in broadcast media, having worked in the news divisions of both Univision and Telemundo networks in Miami and New York.

Today, Cartagena is recognized as a thought leader in the media, marketing, and business worlds for her groundbreaking work in the Hispanic market. She is regarded as a strategic thinker with deep Hispanic consumer insights and has worked to develop culturally relevant marketing programs with a wide variety of clients including Unilever, McDonald's, PepsiCo, Kellogg's, Kraft, Kmart/Sears, and MetLife.

In April of 2007, the Direct Marketing Association named Cartagena the Hispanic Direct Marketing Professional of the Year in recognition of her many contributions in the Hispanic Market. She is the author of Latino Boom!: Everything You Need to Know to Grow Your Business in the US Hispanic Market, which is currently being used to teach Hispanic marketing at UCLA, Florida State University, and Wharton Business School.

Cartagena is currently Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Univision Communications where she is responsible for developing and implementing corporate marketing strategies, positioning the company’s broad portfolio of brands, and creating proprietary consumer research tools and ethnographies. Prior to this position, she served as Senior Vice President of Multicultural Marketing for Story Worldwide, an innovative marketing agency that utilizes a unique narrative approach across multiple platforms to tell brands’ stories.
