Doris Roberts

You hear her voice, it’s instantly recognizable, and you love everything about her-- the warmth, wit, and wry humor of five-time Emmy winner Doris Roberts. With an illustrious career in theater, film and television spanning five decades, she is part of our lives, especially as the memorable “Marie” on Everybody Loves Raymond.

A warm and engaging actress, she also believes in community service, working to positively impact the lives of children and their families by supporting education organizations and those that assist children with AIDS. An animal advocate, she supports Puppies Behind Bars that works with inmates, training guide dogs for the physically disabled and elderly, as well dogs for the ATF and law enforcement agencies to detect explosives.

Battling ageism, Roberts has testified before Congress. "We have wisdom; we have lived lives; we have intelligence and experience that cannot be dismissed," she said. “I've never had more courage. I've never been more outrageous. I'm really having a ball. I rock, as my grandchildren say. And I'll rock forever - until the day I die."

With characteristic honesty, she also co-wrote Are You Hungry, Dear? Life, Laughs, and Lasagna, highlighting the touching and funny moments that have changed her life. With style, charm, and an indefatigable zest for life, Roberts continues to share her personal challenges, loves, and lessons learned along the way with her vibrant voice full of spirit.
