Biography

Best-selling author Frank Figliuzzi is the former FBI Assistant Director for Counterintelligence, where he directed all espionage investigations across the government and frequently briefed the White House, Attorney General, and Congress. In his current role as a respected National Security Analyst, Figliuzzi regularly appears on NBC and MSNBC news, bringing his FBI background and legal training to breaking news and urgent national security issues such as cybersecurity, terrorism, the law, and law enforcement. His best-seller, The FBI Way: Inside the Bureau’s Code of Excellence, has been heralded as a field-tested playbook for unlocking individual and organizational excellence in any profession or industry. Leveraging years of experience in the field, Washington and as high-level corporate security consultant, his authoritative talks explore the intersection of leadership, values and security.

An FBI Special Agent for 25 years, Figliuzzi held senior FBI leadership positions in major American cities and was appointed Chief Inspector by then-FBI Director Robert Mueller. In this role, he was known as the “keeper of the code” of FBI values — overseeing sensitive internal inquiries and performance audits to ensure that each employee met the Bureau's exacting standards. Figliuzzi’s career highlights include leading the FBI's efforts to counter economic espionage in Silicon Valley, overseeing major financial crimes and public corruption, serving as on-scene commander of the largest HAZMAT (anthrax) evidence recovery effort in FBI history, and the resolution of the Toledo terror plot in Ohio. He was also featured in documentaries and news shows on the FBI’s successful operation against 10 Russian sleeper agents in the U.S.

Following his retirement from the FBI, Figliuzzi became a corporate security executive for a Fortune 10 company operating in 180 countries. In this role, he led global investigations that focused on insider threat, workplace violence prevention, data and intellectual property protection, and special event security, including the Olympics. Figliuzzi earned a Juris Doctorate cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Fairfield University. He has also completed the National Security Program for Senior Executives at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Executive Course on Leading Strategic Change at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
