Gloria WilderBrathwaite

Dr. Gloria WilderBrathwaite is the founder of CORE HEALTH, a community-driven social justice solutions company that is dedicated to helping health providers in underserved communities improve their quality of service. The company's mission promotes strengthening individual health and wellness by enriching entire communities. CORE HEALTH's Wellness Doctrine recognizes that a well community provides strong quality healthcare, education, housing, food, and economic opportunities for its residents. It was founded in 2005.

Previously, Dr. WilderBrathwaite served as Director of Community Pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center and Chair of Mobile Health Programs at Children's National Medical Center. She oversaw the daily operations of the Children's Health Project of DC, a program of the nationally recognized Children's Health Fund.

She volunteers her time and expertise as a pediatrician at safety net clinics throughout the DC region. Dr. WilderBrathwaite serves on the Board of Directors for the Children's Law Center, the International Mobile Health Association, the Meyers Foundation, and DC Action for Children. She serves on the prestigious DC Access to Justice Commission and on the health policy board for the Centene Corporation. She has given three years of service to the National Health Service Corps. Dr. WilderBrathwaite is a nationally recognized speaker and expert on poverty and economic segregation in healthcare. She serves as a consultant to numerous foundations and nonprofit organizations specializing in implementing outcome-driven community programs and assisting foundations in analyzing effective community initiatives. She has written articles for major national mainstream publications, served as an expert consultant for The Oprah Winfrey Show, and works with large media organizations like Today's Child Communications on targeted marketing to communities of need throughout our nation.

Dr. WilderBrathwaite believes in the power of service. She was awarded a 2005 Caring Award, joining the company of Jimmy Carter and Mother Theresa; this award is given annually to a select group of individuals who demonstrate exceptional generosity and commitment to service. Other awards include the District of Columbia Primary Care Association Champion of Change Award; Rotary Club's Hall of Fame Award; recognition as a WETA Hometown Hero; The Oprah Winfrey Show's Angel Network "Use Your Life Award" for her service to children; and the Planned Parenthood Champions of Choice Award.

In 2004, George Washington University named Dr. WilderBrathwaite the Physician Humanitarian of the Year and Redbook Magazine recognized her with their Mother's and Shakers Award. She was recently inducted into the prestigious Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society and has been featured in articles in The Ladies Home Journal, "O" Magazine, Today's Child magazine, The Washington Post, and Washington Times. Her work has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, 48 Hours, and Dateline. Dr. WilderBrathwaite's personal mission is to end the injustice of generational poverty.

Dr. Gloria WilderBrathwaite received her bachelor of science degree from Howard University. She spent two years in graduate studies in genetics and genetic counseling before enrolling at Georgetown University School of Medicine. In 1993, WilderBrathwaite received her doctor of medicine degree from Georgetown University. Following her residency in pediatrics at Georgetown University, "Dr. Gloria," as her patients call her, completed both her fellowship in community pediatrics and child advocacy at Georgetown University and her masters of public health at George Washington University in 1998.
