Jeffrey Brown
Harvard psychologist and author Dr. Jeff Brown is a champion of cognitive-behavioral psychology. His latest book, The Winner's Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success, blends cutting-edge brain science and cognitive-behavioral psychology, all of which take aim at calibrating the brain for success. Co-authored with neuroscientist colleague Mark Fenske, PhD, The Winner's Brain identifies the secrets of those who succeed no matter what – and demonstrate how little it has to do with IQ or upbringing.
Brown's first book, The Competitive Edge: How to Win Every Time You Compete, props up personal integrity in the midst of fierce competition. Ever wonder why some people seem blessed with success? In fact, everyone is capable of winning in life – you just need to develop the right brain for it.
Brown not only walks alongside clients who want to manage inconvenient psychological symptoms, but teaches them how to apply research-based strategies for fine-tuning their brains and optimizing life. He's board-certified in both clinical and cognitive-behavioral psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, is on faculty at Harvard Medical School, and is a Clinical Associate at McLean Hospital.
Outside of his practice, Brown is the psychologist for the Boston and Chicago Marathon medical teams and is on Runner's World magazine's scientific advisory board. His psychology expertise has been cited by The New York Times, ESPN, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Woman's Day magazine, FOX News, Family Circle, Boston Magazine, and ABC.com.

The Winner's Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success
Contrary to popular belief, winning in life has little to do with IQ, your circumstances, your financial resources, or even luck. Yet it has everything to do with creating a failure-resistant brain. Every time you think a thought, feel an emotion, or execute a behavior, your neuro-circuitry changes, and the good news is you can take charge of this process.
Based on cutting-edge research connecting neuroscience and cognitive psychology, Brown identifies the strategies that will increase the specific brain functions that drive winning behavior. He explores the stories of dozens of winners from all walks of life, including B.B. King, Laura Linney, artists and inventors, musicians and business people, an FBI agent, a fighter pilot, even a high-altitude window washer.
Through simple everyday practices, Brown explains how to unlock the brain's hidden potential, using:
- Balance: Make emotions work in your favor
- Bounce: Create a failure-resistant brain
- Opportunity Radar: Spot hot prospects previously hidden by problems
- Focus Laser: Lock into what's important
- Effort Accelerator: Cultivate the drive to win
Along the way, audiences learn "win factors" and glean fascinating information (like why you should never take a test while wearing red). This presentation will not only give you an edge, but also motivate you to pursue your biggest dreams.

Anxiety: The Invisible Bully
Harvard psychologist and author Dr. Jeff Brown teams up with educators and parents to understand and combat students' anxiety. Just like a cruel bully at school, anxiety can derail confidence, interfere with social relationships, and obstruct academic success. Whether it's in a complicated dating relationship, tryouts for athletics, stressful college entrance tests, or the all-too-familiar struggle for balance in a life filled with endless options, anxiety will be present. Using striking, compelling, and even comical anecdotes from his vast clinical experiences, Brown will succinctly and expertly portray how anxiety impacts kids and how the battle against the invisible bully can be won. Listeners will be armed to recognize early signs and symptoms of anxiety, know how to use current brain science research to respond to kids in a collaborative way, and discern when to get professional help should anxiety's grip get too tight.
Build a Better Brain
Teachers, administrators, and parents are expected to skillfully guide students toward success. Harvard psychologist and author Dr. Jeff Brown affably describes what cutting-edge brain science is revealing about the brains of successful people and how to implement effective strategies for optimizing brain functioning in the classroom and in life. Through witty stories, clever research-based examples, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from his personal interviews with some of this century's greatest minds, the audience will not only learn about how to cultivate success in their students, they‘ll discover how to infuse success in their own lives, too.
