Julia Boyd

Julia Boyd's poetry and short fiction have been published in several small press anthologies, and in "Essence" magazine. She is a contributor to both editions of "The Black Woman's Health Book".

Boyd is a member of the National Black Women's Health Project, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the King County Arts Commission. Boyd often works as a consultant on cultural diversity, and frequently leads workshops on parenting, depression and self-esteem.

Boyd travels across the country speaking to women's groups and colleges students on self-esteem and other mental health issues. She took her undergraduate degree from Antioch University, and her graduate degree in education from Pacific Lutheran University.

Boyd has helped demystify psychology and therapy for black women in the United States. The "Sister Circle" of her books represents the beautiful spectrum of black women. Boyd celebrates the truth and the health of these women.
