Topics

Reinventing Management

Julian Birkinshaw works to help companies to become as innovative in how they work as they are in the products and services they sell. This includes identifying the "design flaws" that prevent companies from delivering on their true potential, and designing management "experiments" to try out new ways of working in a low-risk way. This talk addresses how a reinvention of management can make all the difference in workplace innovation.

Strategic Agility

This speech is all about helping companies to develop the capabilities they need to spot and seize new opportunities. In a fast-changing world, companies no longer need a precisely defined strategic plan. Instead, they need a set of "simple rules" and a guiding vision, and an empowered and entrepreneurial workforce who can respond quickly to whatever opportunities come their way.

The Five Myths of Innovation

The Five Myths of Innovation addresses how companies can develop more effective ways of innovating, including by diagnosing the weaknesses in their "innovation value chain" and defining the aspects of their culture that promote or suppress innovative effort. Julian Birkinshaw focus particularly on the strengths and limitations of online jams/idea exchanges as a way of generating and developing new ideas.
