Melara went on to become one of America's youngest publishers of a major city magazine at age 30 as publisher of New Orleans Magazine and La Prensa, a bilingual monthly newspaper. As Executive Vice President for New Orleans Publishing Group, he ran an $11 million media company. He is also the author of the books Do You Have Time for Success?, It Only Takes Everything You've Got! The Truth about Success, and Keys to Performance.

Now president and co-owner of the Baton Rouge Business Report, Melara owns Time for Action, a sales- and skills-building training firm. He is a contributing columnist to SalesMasterMind, a national sales newsletter, and has been featured in several publications including Hispanic Business, Selling Power, and The Chicago Tribune.
