His voice is distinct and he commands the screen with quiet authority. As one of the most respected African American actors, Lou Gossett, Jr. has established a highly honored career in film, on television, and the stage. A triple threat talent armed with an Emmy for Roots, an Oscar for Officer and a Gentleman, and a Golden Globe for The Josephine Baker Story, Gossett has soared into the upper echelons of Hollywood’s elite actors.

As an impassioned activist, Gossett firmly believes in giving back to the community by empowering all races and cultures. Charismatic and engaging, Gossett tells the truth on how we can enrich ourselves and teach our children, one generation at a time, how to live a better life. “One mentality cannot run the world anymore, we need to communicate with each other without resorting to violence to create peace, care for our planet, and encourage the cooperation between races, religions, and communities.”

Keeping Our Promise to Our Children

It is the responsibility of every adult – parent, teacher, counselor - to engage youth involved in risky activities by reaching out to them and promoting peace and antiviolence, imbuing them with a sense of personal responsibility, and helping them to re-enter into positive, productive citizenship. By educating and enriching communities through after school programs that provide mentoring and tutorial services, we can nurture the academic and professional development of children from diverse communities. Through his Eracism Foundation, Louis Gossett has, Jr. sought to enrich communities and promote diversity through a series of documentaries, psychodramas, plays, and interactive videos addressing the historical contributions and current relevance of these efforts in improving the quality of life among today's youth. A parent, advocate, activist, and Academy Award-winning actor, Gossett is deeply committed to his message that our children are the most important investment for our future.
