Rob Dixon
Rob Dixon, a renowned youth advocate was recently named an All-Star Among Us by People magazine and Major League Baseball (MLB) for his commitment to educating America’s at-risk youth. President Obama, as well as Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George Bush and Jimmy Carter recognized Dixon at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game before an international television audience. Dixon, a former professional athlete who became an educator and community activist more than 25 years ago, runs an educational nonprofit called Project RISE (Respect, Integrity and Success through Education).
A sought after speaker, Dixon has received numerous awards and accolades for RISE's impressive results, which include a 96% high school graduation rate and more than 170 students going on to attend four-year colleges.
Project RISE was founded during 1993 as an experimental pilot program, which focused on providing academic remediation in mathematics, language arts, multicultural history and science to sixth and eighth grade academically at-risk African American males in Boston public schools.

Introducing values to young people like self-awareness and raising self-esteem, Dixon helps kids to gain confidence so that they can take more "positive" risks. He encourages kids to build morals and develop higher personal standards for themselves and their communities. This presentation deals with qualitative values that help kids gain a better appreciation for how they identify with their own life experiences and how they can impact others.
Closing the Academic Achievement Gap: Youth Empowerment and Self-Esteem
