Terrence J
Terrence J, host of BET’s 106 & Park, has placed himself on the fast track to success. From apprenticing with NASCAR to working in radio and throwing some of the hottest social gatherings, he has been preparing himself for superstardom. As the face of Sean John clothing and Rockport shoes, he has used his style to mass market himself and his multimedia projects. His strong willed determination and business savvy make him a sought after keynote speaker on entrepreneurism, media, and hip-hop.
During his time as host of 106 and Park, Terrence J has watched his plans for multimedia success grow. He’s interviewed such megastars as Madonna, Will Smith, Harrison Ford, Jamie Foxx, Beyonce and Jay‐Z. He hosts “106 & Park Weekend Countdown,” a syndicated radio program, and is executive producing—through his own production company—Crank That Vote, a TV show inspired by mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ challenge to Terrence to register 100,000 votes for the 2008 Presidential election.
Terrence J looks to his mentors Sean “Diddy” Combs, Will Smith, Ben Stiller, Forest Whitaker, and Denzel Washington, for lessons on success. He is currently pursuing an acting career, looking at the careers of Will Smith and Ben Stiller as roadmaps to success. “I want to take my career to that Will Smith level, but I also like Ben Stiller because he’s not only going to be the talent, but he executive produces all of his work and you know what you are getting when you go to see a Ben Stiller film.”
As a civic‐minded member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Terrence J has used his community‐oriented upbringing to work with McDonald’s scholarship programs, empowering young people of color to find out about the college career funding available to them. He also leverages his celebrity status to aid the philanthropic efforts of activists Ludacris, Steve Harvey, Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane by hosting block parties and youth events. He also speaks on youth panels about peer pressure, drugs, and sex.
A firm believer in taking advantage of the opportunities given to you, Terrence J continues to speed down the fast track while espousing his strong values and activist ideals saying, “I’m not here to make money. I’m here to make history.”
