Dr. Eli Newberger, a pediatrician affiliated with Harvard Medical School and Children’s Hospital in Boston, is renowned for his ability to apply good sense and up-to-date science to unresolved issues of family life. Newberger has been a pioneer in identifying and treating child abuse and family violence.

In lectures and workshops for parents, students, teachers and other professionals, Newberger emphasizes the importance of nurturing character development. How do boys and girls develop the capacity to make good choices? What relationships and models guide them in the face of moral challenge? Who can provide those relationships and models? Newberger enriches his lectures and seminars with true stories of children facing challenging ethical dilemmas every day. He explores this area further in his groundbreaking book, The Men They Will Become: The Nature and Nurture of Male Character.

Classically trained in music at Juilliard and Yale, Newberger is also a virtuoso jazz tuba and keyboard performer who has cut more than 40 records with the New Black Eagle Jazz Band and other ensembles. With banjo player/singer Jimmy Mazzy, he delights his audiences with musically illustrated lectures on character building.
