Hackers Target U.S. Hospitals: Advice to Stay Protected from APB Speaker Judy Smith

Within the past month, several American hospitals' computer systems have been targeted by hackers and infected with ransomware. The virus, part of an alarming trend that shows no signs of slowing, is causing chaos and confusion in the healthcare world.

Methodist Hospital, an averaged-sized medical facility located in western Kentucky, was the latest to be hit when an email laced with ransomware managed to make it past the hospital's email spam filter. In a prepared statement, Methodist said, “no patient data or records were compromised.” The hospital is now coordinating with the FBI and the local Police Department.
