A truth seeker dedicated to learning past and present religions and philosophies—including the Ancients and the Classics, as well as eastern, contemporary, and shamanic paths—Ghinsberg returned to the Amazon ten years after nearly losing his life there and made it his home. During this period, he was instrumental in the creation and construction of Chalalan, a model eco-tourism village. His work with indigenous Amazonian tribes contributed to the creation of the Madidi National Park, the largest biosphere conservation belt in the Amazon.

His next move was to assist opiate addicts in their treatment and rehabilitation as vice president of the Center for Investigation & Treatment of Addiction (CITA) by establishing 12 treatment and research centers around the world from Mexico to China. He also founded the Alma Libre Foundation based in Australia, which is dedicated to assisting opiate addicts reintegrate into society.

Today, Ghinsberg is the founder of a new interior and landscape design label called Collecteco, which represents his commitment to ecology, connection to nature, and respect for indigenous cultures. He has also initiated several different business ventures, released two albums of original music, and been involved in grassroots efforts for reconciliation and healing in the Middle East.
