The U. S. Senate has just confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Jackson is the first Black female ever to be appointed to the nation’s highest bench. She was confirmed in a 53-47 vote and will be sworn in this summer after Justice Stephen Breyer retires.

Russian journalist and APB exclusive speaker Dmitry Muratov has announced he will auction his Nobel Peace Prize Medal and donate the funds to help Ukrainian refugees. Muratov, editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta—an independent Russian newspaper known for its reporting on governmental corruption and human rights violations—won the prize last year, along with Filipino American journalist Maria Ressa. The pair were honored for their “efforts to safeguard freedom of expression.”
Limbitless Solutions, a company co-founded by APB speaker Dr. Albert Manero, was recently featured in an article in Today’s Medical Developments. The non-profit organization headquartered at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando specializes in creating and donating personalized, creative and expressive 3D-printed bionic arms for children. The article focused on the growth of the company, which was started by UCF students in 2014. Because of supply chain issues, Limbitless Solutions has purchased additional machinery to manufacture parts in-house—allowing it to do so much more.
A dynamic, driven woman, Sherry Lansing defied odds, pushed boundaries and made history during her successful career in the motion picture business that spanned nearly 30 years. In 1980, she became the first woman to head a major film studio when she was appointed President of 20th Century Fox. Later, as an independent producer, Lansing was responsible for such successful films as Fatal Attraction, The Accused, School Ties, Indecent Proposal and Black Rain.
APB speaker Melissa Berton, Cofounder and Executive Director of The Pad Project, was recently named to Forbes magazine’s 50 Over 50 List of Women Who Are Leading the Way in Impact. She joins fellow APB speakers Susan McPherson, Founder and CEO, McPherson Strategies, and Winona LaDuke, Founder, White Earth Land Recovery Project, who were also honored on the list. According to Forbes, the women are being recognized for changing their communities and the world in ways big and small through social entrepreneurship, law, advocacy and education.
