Marking the close of her final term as President of Liberia, APB speaker and Nobel Peace Laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf addressed the UN General Assembly, highlighting Liberia’s advances and celebrating an unprecedented transfer of power for a country that endured a decade of civil war.

On October 1, 2017, over 55 people were killed and over 500 people were injured by a gunman in Las Vegas, making it the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history. On June 16, 2016, 49 people were killed and dozens were wounded at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The trailer of Stronger, a film adaptation of APB speaker Jeff Bauman’s book on the Boston marathon bombing, was just released! The film, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, tells Jeff’s story of resilience and triumph. Before April 15, 2013, Bauman was a normal 27-year-old. After the bombing, which claimed both of his legs, he emerged a hero and a fighter. Credited with identifying those guilty of the crime, Bauman contributed to making justice happen for so many who suffered that day. The film is set to be released in September of this year.
