Biography

Dr. Medell Briggs-Malonson became a physician because she believes being truly cared for can change lives and communities. Two decades later, that belief guides her work as a Harvard- and UCLA-trained, board-certified emergency physician, health system executive, entrepreneur, and keynote speaker. She brings a rare perspective to the questions leaders face now: how to build technology people can trust, sustain the health of those who lead, and create prosperity that reaches generations.

Her career spans high-acuity emergency departments, the executive suite, and the federal policy table. As UCLA Health’s Chief of Health Equity and Inclusive Excellence, she built frameworks across four hospitals and more than 280 ambulatory sites and led the system to become the first in California and the western United States to earn Joint Commission Health Care Equity Certification. She also served as Chief Health Equity Officer for University of California Health and helped open Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital, establishing the quality and safety foundation of a new safety-net hospital.

Appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Briggs served as Co-Chair of the federal Health Information Technology Advisory Committee, advising on national technology policy and regulation that shape care across the country.

Today, she is building what comes next. As founder and CEO of Life@Peace Collective and its founding practice, Life@Peace Health, she is creating a new standard of care for the leaders, builders, and healers who give so much of themselves to others: unhurried, deeply personal, and attentive to mind, body, and spirit. As founder and CEO of Contour Health Solutions, she advises health systems, technology innovators, and investors on strengthening care, improving performance, and designing technology that serves every person and population. Through Life@Peace Collective and the Malonson Family Foundation, she invests in communities rich in potential but too often limited by resources.

Recognized by Fierce Healthcare, Modern Healthcare, Becker’s Healthcare, and the National Medical Association, Dr. Briggs brings clinical insight, executive judgment, and a deeply human perspective to every stage. Her keynotes move audiences beyond promising ideas to action that genuinely improves lives.

For decades, we have tried to fix health and wealth separately. That is exactly why the outcomes haven’t changed. A healthier future requires the opportunity to learn, earn, own, and build.
