Ending the Injustice of Generational Poverty

Dr Wilder will explore the relationship between U.S. social policies and chronic generational poverty in the context minority, rural and marginalized families. Are U.S. families able to rise out of poverty? How are modern day inequities in healthcare, education, environmental equality, criminal and civil justice impacting generational stability? The road to family stabilization is predicated on equitable opportunity, we will explore the reality of supporting families through generational vulnerability.

Providing Health Equity to Achieve Quality Outcomes

As a country, we are spending more money on healthcare, while outcomes worsen. Healthcare is a service, but health is the goal. We must see beyond the service to identify all the influencers of health.  Our current models are unsustainable and inconsistent with our goal to be a healthy nation, equally for all. This is the most innovative time in healthcare as the industry expands beyond the traditional systems of hospitals and clinics. Dr. Wilder explores the modern-day relationship between health disparities and the social determinant of health. By delving into the impacts of issues such as housing, policy, practice innovations, food insecurity, community violence and economic instability, she will discuss how anchor community organizations can and are approaching a new era of population health though equity and community investment.
