The Internet's Reputation Shredder
The Epidemic [Trigger Warning]
In Real Life #BeStrong [Trigger Warning]
Based on her TED talk that has been viewed over 10 million times, Monica discusses how through online content, shaming others to make a profit has become commonplace. At the age of 24, she went from a private citizen to a humiliated public figure due to the expansive nature of the internet-centered news cycle. Now, in the age of social media, Monica provides insight into the painful realities of cyberbullying and online harassment. In her speech, she mixes her own experiences of public humiliation enhanced by the digital revolution with ways to find compassion and empathy through social media.
"Monica was truly fantastic!!! She was warm, inspiring, engaging, dynamic, vulnerably open, smart, and gave us so much to think about. We’ve been getting so many emails today about how great she was. Thank you for all of your hard work making it happen. It was a home run!"
“It was an extraordinary treat to host Monica Lewinsky at Lewis & Clark College, her alma mater. She was charming and gracious from start to finish, and it was beautiful to witness her reunion with a professor who taught her in multiple courses that she recalled with such clarity and fondness. She was engaging and delightful with the students in the intimate conversation yesterday afternoon, warm and witty at the reception, and captivating at her presentation. Our community greeted her with a standing ovation when she stepped onto the stage, and everyone is abuzz today about the joy of being together for a powerful and moving community event.”
"Today was a resounding success. Blown away by Monica's grace and brilliance. Monica blew away the room with her keynote as well as the fireside afterward. Monica was more than amazing and also happens to be a sweet and kind woman. So all in all it was a good day."
"We cannot thank you enough for helping us secure Monica Lewinsky for our event today. Not only was she an extremely gracious and humble person, but her speech was so strong that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Everyone in that room was blown away by her strength and message. She also did end up tailoring to the Jewish community, incorporating Jewish values into the speech. We are so happy right now!"
