Biography
Susan Eisenhower is an expert in strategic leadership, a consultant and award-winning speaker and writer. Through The Eisenhower Group, Inc, a company she founded more than thirty years ago, Ms. Eisenhower has used her extensive domestic and geopolitical experience to help Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies untangle the issues they face in meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
She spent eight years as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Standing Committee on International Security and Arms Control and NASA's Advisory Council. In addition, she was a member of three nuclear energy related blue ribbon commissions for the Department of Energy. DOE awarded her the Distinguished Service Award for her work after her two-term stint as co-chairman of the Secretary of Energy’s Nuclear Energy Advisory Council.
She continues to hold positions on several advisory boards including the Army War College in Carlisle and the MIT Energy Initiative Advisory Board. She has received many awards, including France’s highest award for civilian merit, the Legion of Honor. Over the years she has provided analysis for major network television news shows on CNN, Fox, MSNBC and PBS—including The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Special Report with Brett Baier and The Story with Martha McCallum. Her op-ed articles and essays have been featured in newspapers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, The London Spectator and USA Today, among others. She is a recipient of the prestigious Washington Speakers Award and in the last fifteen years two of her speeches were singled out by the American Speechwriter’s Association in Vital Speeches of the Day, “a monthly collection of the best speeches in the world,” according to ProPublica’s website.
Her most recent of five books, How Ike Led: The Principles Behind Eisenhower's Biggest Decisions, has received acclaim nationally and internationally. According to former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, How Ike Led “brings one of America’s most remarkable public figures into lasting focus,” and in the words of former US Secretary of State Robert Gates, “Susan Eisenhower’s How Ike Led distills from her grandfather’s life the enduring qualities of successful leadership.
