APB Speaker Sonia Manzano Teams Up with National Geographic For Powerful New Kids Book

Known best for her role as "Maria" on Sesame Street, APB speaker Sonia Manzano is teaming up with National Geographic on a powerful new children’s book called A World Together. During a time when the world must come together as one, Sonia’s Sesame Street character “Maria” offers readers warmth and wit in a picture book that looks across cultures and generations to celebrate what unites us. National Geographic and Manzano are excited to unveil A World Together, which will be released on September 15th 2020.
Manzano says she “jumped at the chance National Geographic gave me of continuing to spread the word of multicultural understanding…Creating a presentation through words and pictures of how we’d like our world to be was exhilarating…I wanted it to celebrate what connects us wherever we come from, whether it’s a block away or the other side of the planet.”
From writing for Sesame Street to writing the books No Dogs Allowed, a Box Full of Kittens, and the inspirational The Revolution of Evelyn Serrano, Manzano shares her experience and insight on how to inspire and excite children through the written word. Now in her new book, kids will see how people around the world look, dress and spend their day, and learn that what we enjoy and value may sometimes look different, but deep down is the same wherever you go.
