Blair Underwood Honors His Mother’s Legacy with New Biography and Audiobook Narration

Award-winning actor and APB speaker Blair Underwood is paying tribute to his late mother in a deeply personal new project, announcing that he and his sister, Marlo Underwood, will co-narrate the audiobook version of her biography, A Soldier’s Wife: My Mother, the Marvelous Mrs. Marilyn A. Underwood. Set for release on April 14, 2026, the book offers an intimate portrait of Marilyn Underwood—a trailblazing woman whose life spanned roles as a fashion designer, entrepreneur, military spouse, and mother.  

Drawing from personal letters, family interviews, and Underwood’s own memories, the biography captures Marilyn’s journey from Buffalo, New York, to becoming a pioneering figure in her field, including her role as one of the first Black female executives at her company.  

For Underwood, the project is more than a book—it is a preservation of legacy. He described his mother as a visionary whose strength and elegance shaped his life and career, while his sister Marlo emphasized that the work ensures their mother’s story will resonate with future generations.  

Through both the written word and the shared voices of Blair and Marlo Underwood, the story ensures that Marilyn Underwood’s life—and the lessons within it—will endure.
