The Berlin Turnpike: A True Story of Human Trafficking in America
Human Trafficking on the Berlin Turnpike
"Thanks again for all that you do for the protection of those that have difficulty protecting themselves."
"I have seen Ray's work supporting human rights, specifically his battle against human trafficking, for decades. He has worked tirelessly to create a larger public awareness on the subject, a key factor in preventing and detecting this horrible crime, all while working to protect its victims. Mr. Bechard has dedicated himself to training those in law enforcement and criminal justice, traveling the country to educate police officers. Victims of trafficking have no better advocate than Raymond Bechard."
“On behalf of the University of Toledo and the Second Chance Advisory Board, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to you for continuing to protect women and save children.”
“On behalf of Soroptimist International of Northeastern Region, thank you for moving us with your Keynote presentation on human trafficking. Our missions are in synch and can really make a difference for women and girls.”
“On behalf of all of us at D.A.R.E. America I wish to express my appreciation for your participation and contribution to the tremendous success of the 22nd Annual D.A.R.E. International Training Conference in Orlando, Florida. We are sincerely grateful to you for the time and effort you committed to … furnishing vital information to the D.A.R.E. instructors and educators."
"Your seminar received that rare, unanimous rating of excellent in all areas."
“Thank you for your great work on behalf of children.”
“When Bechard focuses on trafficking, he is clear and persuasive.”
“How can we possibly thank you enough for your constant support during our recent investigation into Prostitution and Human Trafficking. Your suggestions and assumption of responsibility for the well being of one of our victims/witnesses is critical to our investigation. One of the most amazing things is that you said you would do specific things to care for the victim and then did them; a rare commodity.”
“Ray, the fact of the matter is you always were and always will be my savior. Someone who saved me from myself and the brutality of the streets. Still to this day you protect me and watch over me. I can never repay the debt. Nor could I ever find someone I can confide in such as yourself. No one understands or is more compassionate than you to my needs and frustration over being victimized. These people who are so quick to judge and criticize on something they know nothing of. You truly do understand fully now the feeling of being victimized. I’m behind you all the way!!”
“Thank you so much for allowing us into your world and your work. We are so grateful for you time, effort and knowledge sharing. It is very clear you are passionate about human trafficking and your desire to rid society of its power.”
“Thank you so much for your dynamic presentation to the nurses in Connecticut! Your deep understanding of the knowledge and how this critical public health issues looks in Connecticut really made the case for nurses to take action on the front lines – whether through supporting education and action in their communities, or working with their health care settings to have a plan!”
“I wanted to thank you for your presentation this past Wednesday. My husband read your book, The Berlin Turnpike. I had fallen into the belief of one of your myths: that this was a terrible abuse perpetrated mainly on foreign soil. Your talk opened my eyes to this evil occurring right in our backyards. And as I sat there, I had that same guttural awful feeling; I could hardly look at the screen. God bless the children, God bless the vulnerable, and God bless you for exposing this to the world.”
“You were correct – If we don’t make a difference now, who will? I am inspired by your untiring efforts in the cause of humanity. The world needs more of you! Thank you for all that you do.”
“I am thrilled to be in the company of such a talented writer.”
“After each presentation, I require my students to write a response paper. They are famously quick to detect a disingenuous speaker, and can be brutally honest in their criticisms; Bechard passes the authenticity test with an ‘A’. Time after time my students give him positive reviews, saying his was one of the most important classes of the semester.”
"Thank you so much to the one and only Raymond Bechard for sharing your research about the dark crime of human trafficking in Connecticut and the United States. We certainly learned a lot today."
“I had to call on Ray for assistance in locating one of our foster care girls that had run away. She had been missing for five days and three police departments were searching for her. Ray and his staff were able to locate her and she was rescued from the trafficker who already had her working on the streets. I am so impressed with the level of commitment of this gentle man and his humility as he works to make a difference in the lives of young vulnerable children.”
“On behalf of the Suzanne Mubarek Women’s International Peace Movement and the Campaign End Human Trafficking Now!, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind collaboration and participation at the conference ‘Human Trafficking at the Crossroads’, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. We are pleased to inform you that the conference turned out to be a great success, an outcome which could not have been achieved without your valuable contribution.”
“Thank you for taking time to present valuable information to D.A.R.E. officers from across the State of Missouri.”
“I found Ray’s presentation to be informative & valuable. His presentation will serve as the foundation for our future objectives in investigating Human Trafficking crimes.”
“Excellent Class. A real eye opener.”
“Thanks for the great update of info. It’s here and now and we need to change our vocabulary like we suggested and address this problem.”
“I learned things about human trafficking I did not know. Working with kids in my job, I think this will help me identify children at risk.”
