Dr. Sampson Davis Appears on "The Dr. Oz Show" to Discuss Heart Health
28 Jan 2019
An emergency room physician and sought-after healthcare speaker, Dr. Sampson Davis appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to discuss heart attack causes and prevention—a timely topic, as February marks Heart Health Month.
On Dr. Oz, Davis discussed the many “health attacks” that can occur during the holidays, what to do when one occurs and steps that can be taken to prevent them. He shared three reasons heart attacks happen during the holidays: a change in daily regime, over-indulging and continually pushing off “New Year’s resolutions.”
The fifth of six children, Dr. Davis was raised in cramped living quarters surrounded by fragmented families, crime and drugs. Still, he was a good student, able to strike the fragile balance between being smart yet socially acceptable on the streets. While attending University High School in Newark, Dr. Davis met Dr. Rameck Hunt and Dr. George Jenkins, two fellow students who together made a promise to become doctors. Dr. Davis and his two childhood friends each successfully fulfilled their pact. They've since created The Three Doctors Foundation, a non-profit organization offers a series of free public programs focused upon health, education, leadership and mentoring.
