APB Speaker Michelle Howard to Appear on CNBC's “Halftime Report” Veteran’s Day Special

A groundbreaking leader during her 35-year career in the U.S. Navy, Admiral Michelle Howard was the first woman to achieve the rank of four-star admiral and the first woman to be appointed to the position of vice chief of naval operations. Now retired, she will be appearing on CNBC’s Halftime Report for their annual Veteran’s Day Special. This year’s Halftime Report Veteran’s Day show will be a live taping at the Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery on November 8th.

The Women’s Memorial honors the 3 million current and past servicewomen in the U.S. Armed Forces, and is the only national memorial specifically honoring the women who have defended the United States. As the first woman to achieve the rank of four-star admiral and the first woman to reach the 2nd highest rank in the Navy, Howard is an extremely fitting and deserving honoree and speaker for this tribute to the servicewomen in our armed forces.

Michelle Howard’s naval career broke boundary after boundary. As the commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and the U.S. Naval Forces Africa, she led NATO commands and peacekeeping operations. She was the first African-American woman to command a ship in the Navy, as well as the first African-American woman to reach 3 or 4-star rank in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. A veteran of missions such as Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, as well as high-profile civilian rescues, she is a legendary role model and motivator for service members and civilians alike, especially those who strive to break boundaries and glass ceilings.
