NBA legend and APB speaker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is collaborating with the History channel to bring audiences the groundbreaking, one-hour documentary Black Patriots: Heroes of the Revolution, which premieres Wednesday, February 19th at 10pm ET/PT. Abdul-Jabbar has been heavily invested in bringing light to the untold stories of African-Americans throughout our nation’s history since he retired from his record-breaking NBA career.
Abdul-Jabbar both anchors the narrative onscreen through sit-down interviews and shapes the documentary from the filmmaking side as an executive producer. Telling the stories of black Americans in the Revolutionary War, Abdul-Jabbar said that the film “chronicles the surprising, crucial, and often ignored role that black people played in the creation of our country.”
