APB Speaker Sevetri Wilson Breaks Record With Largest Ever VC Raise for a Solo Black Female-founded Tech Company

APB speaker Sevetri Wilson, founder and CEO of technology startup Resilia, is going down in the history books once again. In October, Resilia raised $35 million in a series B funding round. It’s the largest raise ever for a solo Black female-founded tech company. It also marks the largest VC raise of a female founder in the state of Louisiana. Wilson first made history when her company closed an $8 million Series A in 2020.

Resilia, a SaaS platform, enables nonprofits to increase capacity and funders to go beyond their grant allocations with technical assistance, coaching and capacity-building support, in a solution that supports changemakers at every stage. The company has experienced over 300% annual revenue growth while growing net revenue retention by greater than 150%.

"Our goal at Resilia has always been to provide nonprofits with access—something our team has worked tirelessly to do,” said Wilson. “This latest investment gets us closer to realizing our vision of democratizing philanthropy by reallocating power over its decision-making and resources as well as providing more seats at the table.”

Before Resilia, Wilson founded Solid Ground Innovations, LLC., a strategic communications agency and authored Solid Ground: How I Built a 7-Figure Company at 22 with Zero Capital. Her second book, Resilient: How to Survive Anything and Build a Million Dollar Business, With or Without Capital, was released in April 2021 and is a Wall Street Journal bestseller. Wilson is a 2010 recipient of the Nobel Prize for Public Service and the Jefferson Award. Her work was featured in the U.S. Senate report to the White House on Volunteerism in the U.S., under President Obama. Wilson’s work and that of her clients have been featured in national publications such as USA Today, Time and CNN. She serves as a voice for communities as a Forbes contributor and has amassed over 200,000 followers across social media.
