September Cancer Awareness Month: Honoring Ovarian and Prostate Cancer Care Teams

Each September, Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month bring attention to two cancers that affect countless patients, families, and communities. These observances offer an opportunity to raise awareness, support education, and recognize the people working every day to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research, and care.

Recognizing Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

This month is also a time to thank the healthcare professionals whose work often reaches far beyond what patients see in a single appointment. Oncologists, nurses, primary care providers, surgeons, researchers, social workers, care coordinators, mental health professionals, patient navigators, technicians, advocates, and support staff all play a role in helping patients and families move through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Cancer care requires expertise, compassion, communication, and extraordinary persistence. From early conversations about symptoms and screening to treatment planning, survivorship, family support, and ongoing research, healthcare professionals help turn uncertainty into action and fear into support.

This month, APB recognizes the dedication of those working to advance ovarian and prostate cancer awareness, strengthen patient care, support families, and move research forward. To all the healthcare professionals, researchers, advocates, caregivers, and support teams making a difference in cancer care: thank you.
