Biography

Detavio Samuels serves as CEO of REVOLT, America’s fastest growing Black-owned media empire. Detavio is a transformative figure in the Black-owned media landscape and sits at the intersection of culture and content and is one of corporate America's youngest, most accomplished senior executives. With his unique background as a millennial with over a decade of executive experience, he has helped a decorated roster of top global companies like Walmart, McDonalds, AT&T, Chrysler, the NBA and Johnson & Johnson build impactful brands with deeper connections to their consumers.

In January 2021, Detavio was appointed CEO of REVOLT, the nation's leading creator and distributor of Hip Hop culture content. Under his leadership, REVOLT has shifted the narrative around Black people domestically and globally and he continues to build the world’s largest and most powerful ecosystem for Black storytelling.

Detavio is focused on rapid growth and digital expansion to further position REVOLT as the preeminent driver of global culture. He is dedicated to helping Millennials and Gen-Z change the narrative and have their voices heard by telling their story and ignite change by using Hip Hop as a lens through which to explore the Black experience globally.

Detavio has been recognized for his work as a marketing executive, receiving several honors including being named as Adweek’s Creative Visionary Awards – Brand Leader of 2022, Digiday’s TV Executive of the Year of 2022, Black Media Honors’ Urban Leadership Award of 2022, T. Howard Foundation’s Executive Leadership Award of 2023, a Trailblazer in Media by 100 Black Men of NY, and Cablefax Top 100: Top Content Leaders of 2022. In addition to his notable work within creative industries, he is also an Amazon bestselling author.

Detavio received his B.A. from Duke University, along with an MBA and master’s degree from Stanford University all by the age of 25. He remains poised to redesign the media landscape and empower creators by building innovative platforms aimed at advancing Black culture.
